Marlins Make History

First time McNair has made provincials for rugby in 35 years!

Playing football all my life, I always want to give rugby a shot. Couldn’t be that much different right? I was wrong and correct at the same time. I found a passion in sport that I have never played till that moment. In senior year of high school, I was playing my final year of the sport, and McNair was never even a thought of being a provincial calibre team. We shifted that status quo and we started off with a bang winning game after game. The playoffs began and we just needed one more win to secure our spot in provincials. In my senior year, McNair cemented their place in history by qualifying for rugby provincials for the first time in over 35 years! This accomplishment was huge to me and a moment I will never forget.

Abbotsford Provincials 2023

Playing 3 games of rugby in 4 days takes a tole on anyones body. But McNair always faced adversity so we knew we can push through and succeed. We did not just make provincials, but we got 4th place in our division. Challenge after challenge, we conquered and even though we did not win the whole thing, I have never loved an experience more than this. Bonding with brothers by hitting people on the field, it was a love story. This is one of my highest accomplishments I have earned.
