Mac Miller – Circles

Mac Miller released a posthumous album release after his accidental drug overdose in September 2018, was a continuation of his former album “Swimming”. Tis album was an impact on so many since Mac Miller always was influential with his lyric choice. On multiple songs he talks about his struggles with anxiety, the feeling of not knowing where you are going in life, depression, and the many other mental health struggles and wonders. Miller knows most of us act fine or different on the outside, so for those struggling with their personal identity or just struggling in general, this album might be a good pick me up.

Frank Ocean – Blonde

Frank Ocean came out with the album Blonde in 2018. There has been many different speculations of the meaning, people noticed the difference in the spelling of blonde on the cover and the title. Fans believe this show the feminine and masculine side of himself since he is bi-sexual. No matter the meaning of the album, it will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions by listening to his unique style. Ocean talks about the adversity he has faced as well as the different relationships he has come by, the failed ones, and the healthy ones. Oceans want to share his personal experiences hoping that people can learn from him. Ocean was the storyteller, but he is now the story as well.

Mac DeMarco – This Old Dog

Indie rock musician Mac DeMarco released This Old Dog in 2017. Majority of the songs on this album were not intended on being released. DeMarco has a 80s calming indie vibe to his music taking inspiration from Neill Young, this album is about opening up and being truthful with himself. This album encounters his life struggles and roadblocks, but mainly covers his absent father, he left when he was around 5 years old. I find this album to be a great study playlist or just the perfect album to listen to as you fall asleep.

Tame Impala – Currents

Currents released in 2015, is a highly acclaimed album made by Kevin Parker who is known as Tame Impala. It represents the changes someone may go through to become a person they never thought they would become. This album has an upbeat euphoric flow and unique vibe unlike any other genre. The album shows the growth you go through as you age but it may be looked at from a different perspective, a breakup album. No matter what way you interpret the album, there is a song for everyone, give Tame Impala a shot as he offers a unique music style. “Currents” is not just an album; it’s an auditory odyssey. The meticulous production, layered textures, and seamless transitions between tracks create a continuous flow of musical ecstasy. The attention to detail is evident in every synth riff, drum beat, and echoing harmony, making each listen a new revelation. In essence, “Currents” is a sonic masterpiece that encapsulates Tame Impala’s evolution.
